GRE Testing Center
GRE is a standardized test, conducted by the Educational Testing Services and is focused on measuring the writing and critical thinking skills of the candidate. Many schools including Harvard, Stanford, MIT and others consider GRE as an important criterion for admission purposes. In addition to admission criterion, if your GRE scores are above the average scores then you stand a good chance to be considered for merit based grants or fellowships or for teaching purposes, that of course will vary widely between schools and also between departments within school.
If you are answering GRE 2011, then from August 1st, 2011 you will be answering GRE in its new format. The revised computer based GRE general test is not only friendly but also, unlike the previous computer adaptive test (CAT), gives you the freedom to review and preview your questions through its computer based test (CBT).
It is but natural that most of us will feel apprehensive towards this new format. To remove that psychological barrier and to encourage test takers, GRE is making an exclusive offer. If you test between August 1st and September30th, 2011, you will be given a 50% discount on your test fees. If you register directly with a GRE test center to test in August or September, you will initially pay the full test fees of which 50% will be refund after your registration is processed.
If you are answering the computer based GRE exam then your exam will be conducted at selected GRE test center which will have the appropriate technological accommodations however, if your GRE test center is not qualified for computer based testing then you will be offered paper based exam at the selected GRE test center. If you are testing from countries like United States, U.S. territories, Puerto Rico and Canada then your GRE test center is available at PrometricTM Testing Centers (many Prometric Testing Centers are located inside Sylvan Learning Centers), and some colleges and universities.
You should register early for the Revised GRE Computer based Test to stand a higher chance of being assigned your choice of date selection and GRE test center. You will be assigned the GRE test center and date according to the information you provide, during the registration process. If your assigned test date is not according to your convenience, you should contact the appropriate RRC (Regional Registration Center) within 24 hours of receiving your registration confirmation. Given below are the dates for the computer based revised GRE test. You should select your test date according to the score reporting schedule.
