Special info about Latest Schedule for the GRE

The revised GRE test comes with many new interesting features from the test taker’s point of view. Also, an introductory offer of 50% savings on the original registration cost can be availed by registering yourself to take the test between August 1, 2011 and September 30, 2011. Since GRE is conducted in two formats, both of which have different testing dates and schedules, we shall look into both of them in detail. There is also another supplement test for prospective undergraduates: The GRE Subject Tests. These tests are conducted in a subject of the applicant’s choice out of the 8 individual subject choices offered by the ETS.

  • There are various policies and regulations to be followed by all the test takers with effect from August 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.
  • You can get all the information regarding these GRE test regulations on the official website of ETS at the link: www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/about/bulletin. This link also provides you with the pdf versions of documents related to all the different policies and regulations.

When, where and how is the GRE conducted?

  • GRE computer based test schedule

The GRE computer based test is conducted throughout the year except on general holidays and on some additional local holidays depending upon the location of the test centre. Given below are some important points for the GRE computer based test schedule.

    • The GRE computer based test can be scheduled by a test taker on the date on which he chooses to take the test depending upon the availability of a time slot.
    • The test dates for the test takers are offered on first-come, first-serve basis.
    • To get an appointment on the date of your choice, you must register way ahead of the choice of your test date.
    • The GRE test, either the computer based test or the paper based test can be given only once in two months.
    • The information regarding the test centres and dates can be found at the link:www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/register/centers_dates
    • You can gather information regarding all the test centres in the countries where GRE is conducted at the link:www.etsis4.ets.org/tcenter/. • GRE paper based test schedule

The GRE paper based test is administered in the countries or places where there are no facilities for organizing a computer based test. The registration cost for the GRE paper based test is the same as that for a computer based test. For this test, you will not have the advantage of choosing a test centre and test date of your choice. Yet, the GRE paper based test is conducted up to three times a year and you can choose to write on any one of these dates depending on its feasibility with respect to your requirements.
