Passage

At some point in our healing process, we need to decide to carry on in life. If we don’t carry on in life, then we’re choosing to let our offender win, and we’re choosing to be our offender’s victim. While this can be difficult to hear when we’re in the depths of a painful experience, being a “victim” is a choice, it’s a mental state, and it can be terribly crippling. For those caught in a victim mentality, it’s important to understand, they are in the position of strength, for they can choose to no longer be a victim by removing themselves from the conflict. If you feel you are being hurt by a person, and you find a healthy way to remove yourself from thatsituation, then that person has no more emotional power over you.

  • a) The first sentence. (At some point’life.)
  • b) The second sentence. (If we don’t’victim.)
  • c) The third sentence. (While this can’crippling.)
  • d) The fourth sentence. (For those caught’conflict.)
  • e) The fifth sentence. (If you feel’you.)

Correct Answer: (c)

Explanation:

The author is describing how we should let go of our tragedies and move ahead in life. He says that by not doing so, we allow our offenders to have power over us. He says that when we’re in the depths of our pain, we could find this difficult to hear. This means that when we are in grief, we are more vulnerable. This is clear from the third sentence.

  • c) The third sentence. (While this can’crippling.)
  • d) The fourth sentence. (For those caught’conflict.)
  • e) The fifth sentence. (If you feel’you.)

Correct Answer: (e)

Explanation:

The author says that we are caught in the victim mentality if we don’t move on in life. In the last sentence, he says that if we are hurt by a person, we should try to remove ourselves from that situation. Then the person shall not have any emotional power over you and this amounts to our liberation. The correctsentence is thus the last sentence.

Question 3:

In which sentence does the author explain self-victimization?

  • a) The first sentence. (At some point’life.)
  • b) The second sentence. (If we don’t’victim.)
  • c) The third sentence. (While this can’crippling.)
  • d) The fourth sentence. (For those caught’conflict.)
  • e) The fifth sentence. (If you feel’you.)

Correct Answer: (b)

Explanation:

He explains this in the third and fourth sentences further. Since the author says that it is our choice to be victims of our offenders until we’choose’ to go ahead in life, it amounts to self-victimization. It is explained in the second sentence
