- Log on to www.ets.org.
- On the home page of the ETS website, you will find the category ‘Tests & Products’ under which there is a link ‘GRE Tests’. Click on this link.
- You will now be redirected to the GRE page where you will find the category ‘Revised General Test’ and from the lists under it, click on the link ‘Register for the test’.
- You will now be redirected to a page where you can find all the instructions you will need to follow during your registration.
- Read all the text carefully and understand the details.
- You will be provided with the details regarding the fee structure, your identity information details and test cancellation and test retaking details.
- In the same page, you will find a link ‘Register Online Now’, clicking which you will be directed to the page containing ‘Sign In to Your GRE account’.
- There is a link available for being directed to the page where you will have to enter the country of your choice for taking the test. Once you do this, you will know whether you can attempt the exam in computer based format or you will have to take a paper based test.
- In this page, after you get the test status in your country, you will be asked to register online. Clicking that will direct you to the page containing ‘Sign In to Your GRE account’.
- Here, if you are an existing user, you may enter your username and password to sign into your ‘My GRE Account’ or else you will have to click ‘Sign Up to create your new ‘My GRE Account’.
- In the page that follows, you will have to enter all your personal details like your name, date of birth, mailing address and telephone number and click on continue.
- You will then be asked to confirm the information you have entered or you might edit the information by clicking the ‘Edit Information’ tab or ‘Continue’ tab.
- Now you will be asked to enter the desired username and password for you to open the account later on.
- After entering the required information, read the ‘Terms and Conditions’ mentioned in this page. Agree to their policy and click on ‘Submit’.
- A page confirming your account creation is displayed. Now press ‘Continue’ and you will be directed to a page where you can view all the features of your ‘My GRE Account’.
- Here, in the ‘Register’ category, you can register for the GRE General Test online by clicking it.
- You will be asked to select the country of your choice to take the test.
- Once you have selected, you will be redirected to a page where you are advised about the scoring details.
- In the same page, you will find a link to your GRE online registration clicking which you will take you to a page where you can confirm your registration by paying the stated fee.
- The fee can be paid using a credit/debit card.
- After this you will be asked to select the choice of the test centre, testing date and the time.
- Once you are done with all these formalities you will receive a mail on your submitted e-mail address about the confirmation regarding your test date, test centre and the reporting time.
- You can always go back to your ‘My GRE Account’ and cancel or reschedule your test. But this follows some norms as stated in the policy which you would have read
- For those who are taking the test in August or September 2011, the scores will be announced in the starting of November 2011, but for those taking it later; the results will be announced in late November 2011. Based upon this information you can select the date of your choice.
The registration fee varies from US $130 to US $210 depending upon the country in which you are taking the test. Select a test date that is feasible for you and a test centre that is nearest to you. You will be provided with all the information pertaining to the examination in the official GRE website itself. The test pattern, the syllabus for the exam, rules and regulations to be followed during the examination and some sample test papers for your practice are available at the official website of GRE.
